Prometheus banner revealed at expo

Earlier today there was speculation that Fox might be revealing promotional material at this year's Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas.

Well, the expo has only been open a few hours and already the Prometheus banner has been spotted, thanks to one of Coming Soon's scouts.

That's all there is for now, but there's likely to be some more news coming up soon from the expo.

  1. The Art-Deco style font and the name PROMETHEUS seems to be a direct reference to Rockafeller Center and the statues of PROMETHEUS by Paul Manship!!! Ok, so WHY?!

The famous golden-bronze statue is of PROMETHEUS, overlooking the famous ice skating ring. It's a very curious reference since while ART DECO was 20th CENTURY (FOX?) thing, it doesnt really apply to space.

Im not about to host pics of that now, but look up the font for Rockafeller Center and the statues of Prometheus.

Could it be some strange Illuminist reference b/w the Company and the Rockafellers? I'm intrigued.

    READ THIS:
    http://www.shiningcollection.com/prometheus.html

"Prometheus, who had fashioned man out of clay, saved humanity by teaching man how to use fire. Thus, Prometheus became a champion of humanity and the first "sculptor" of man.

Manship's Prometheus is seen as he descends from Mount Olympus, encircled by the ring of the zodiac. Almost identical to the statue at Rockefeller Center, though diminutive in scale, this maquette captures the stylized strength and gravity-defying element of Paul Manship's creative process. It is undoubtedly a unique symbol of American art and American history."

That can't be a coincidence. I work there from time to time and the font RIGHT BEHIND Prometheus' head, on the wall, is the font for the poster. You can find it by searching for images of the statue. Get one that centers Prometheus from the front. It's the exact same font. It's undeniable.

The inscription reads "Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends."

Brought the fire that proved a means to mighty ends? Hmmm...very interesting.

Plus the Art Deco screams ROCKEFELLER and ROCKEFELLER screams PROMETHEUS. That statue is legendary. That can't be a coincidence.

Ridley is a graduate of an Art Institute. Im sure the Art Dept of Prometheus knows what they are doing when they tap an ART DECO font and attach it to the word 'PROMETHEUS'!

Maybe the design of the film will be on the ART DECO-style side. Could be really cool. Love that stuff.
Otherwise, I think it's hysterical that the poster kinda reveals nothing else. Heh.

  2. My take on the plot is that i think the Company, Weyland Yutani (or whatever) comes across a Space Jockey ship and the decision is made to try to cripple board and steal technology from them.
Along the way humand get captured by the SJ's who use the prisoner humans in horrifying experiments being the bio-engineers they are. The end upshot is the fact the alien is created. But we dont see it as the Alien we know until the very end of the movie.
